Deadline for Spring 2018 registration: March 15 M1. Women's History and the History of Women's History (CRN 87740) This course, a joint offering of the California College of Arts and Crafts and California State University, Northridge, examines the history and historiography of women's history from its roots in the nineteenth century through its evolution as a major field of study in the second half of the twentieth century to the present day. The course will explore the various approaches taken to women's history, including feminist, Black, Latin@, and postcolonial histories, as well as the ways in which women's history has engaged with other fields of study, including those of race, gender, sexuality, and social movements. We will focus on the ways in which women's history has been seen as an essential part of both women's and the American studies canon, as well as the challenges to this view. Finally, the course will consider how the field of women's history has responded to the challenges posed by the feminist movement, including the ways in which women's history has been more or less incorporated into the narrative of American history, and the wider re-visioning of the nation in the wake of the Civil War and the 1960s. Reading will include primary sources, such as diaries and letters, as well as secondary sources, including books, articles, and historical periodicals. M2. Results: While the rates of medication adherence for both groups were similar after treatment, the adherence rates were higher among those who were abstinent. In addition, the less the women abstained, the more likely they were to go on to exchange sex. Achieving abstinence more than three months into treatment was associated with a 23% lower likelihood of trading sex at follow-up. However, those who traded sex were more likely to be abstinent at follow-up if they had achieved three months of abstinence in the prior year.
The indictments detailed the defendants’ participation in a large-scale commercial sex trafficking enterprise that smuggled undocumented women from Mexico to the United States to be exploited for commercial sex acts. In particular, the charges allege that the Melendez-Rojas Organization forced hundreds of women to engage in commercial sex acts through threats of violence, physical or sexual abuse, or kidnapping. 827ec27edc
